In 2024, Enzo Favata decided to reunite his historic Quintetto Atlantico, 18 years after their last performance together—an event that drew many fans of the album and the band, filling concert halls across Italy. The lineup, composed of musicians with illustrious careers, represents a true Italian supergroup immersed in the international jazz scene. Alongside Favata on saxophones are Daniele Di Bonaventura on bandoneon, Marcello Peghin on acoustic guitar, Salvatore Maltana on double bass, and U.T. Gandhi on drums—all renowned figures in the Italian jazz world.
The band is coming together for a musical journey inspired by the rich literary heritage of South America, drawing on the works of iconic authors such as Borges, Sepúlveda, Márquez, Soriano, and others.

This reunion celebrates Atlantico, a concept album originally released in 1999 by Manifesto Editions. The album was an instant success, captivating listeners with its imaginative blend of jazz and Latin American influences. With multiple reprints and over 50,000 copies sold, Atlantico became a cultural phenomenon. It marked the beginning of a prolific period for the quintet, which between 1999 and 2004 performed over 400 concerts worldwide, including four tours in Latin America.
The Quintetto Atlantico became a defining musical group for Generation X. Word-of-mouth spread quickly among those who owned the album, attended their concerts, or read glowing reviews in newspapers and international press. Their success helped introduce a wider audience—particularly younger listeners—to their dreamy, evocative sound that seamlessly blended jazz with Latin American influences. The unique instrumentation—featuring bandoneon, guitar, soprano sax, double bass, and drums—paired with the lyrical melodies of their compositions, earned the quintet a cult status. Even today, their music, easily accessible on digital platforms, continues to resonate with new generations thanks to its timeless appeal.
Now more than ever, their music feels fresh and relevant, and the band is preparing to record a new album.
