MM Contemporary Dance Company – Michele Merola’s company, founded in Reggio Emilia in 1999 – closes the current Ballet Season of Teatro La Fenice with a show that appeared on the billboards of prestigious theatres, including the Teatro Pubblico Campano. The two contemporary dance creations presented investigate the human soul on the notes of compositions from various eras. Elegia – choreographed by Enrico Morelli, with music by Frédéric Chopin and Giuseppe Villarosa – is a choral dance that reflects, amidst vertigo and bewilderment, on the current era, transforming into a praise of care and attention toward others, with the precious contribution of poetry by Mariangela Gualtieri. Vivaldi umane passioni – choreography by Michele Merola, music by Antonio Vivaldi – investigates the relationship between music and movement. “With Vivaldi and baroque music – explains the author – I rediscovered the love for pure choreographic design, while the inspiration I find in Marc Chagall’s paintings has guided my work towards human passions, escape from everyday life, listening to inner emotions.”
