Amos Alfredson, the cosmopolitan alter ego of Saverio Tasca, is an imaginary musician of Middle Eastern and Nordic descent. In his mind, his parents’ tales of snow and sand blend into an evocative world that is colourful and grey, sunny and misty all at once. It is a world where people, animals and things are welcomed and transformed into stories and music. The project sets out to add a new voice to the European jazz tradition, a strand that draws on the musical, compositional and expressive traditions of Western classical and folk music
DESCRIPTION
The Saverio Tasca Vibes Trio reshapes the sound of the classic piano trio by replacing the piano with the vibraphone. The result is a more fluid, liquid tone that is also full of rhythm and vitality. The trio performs original pieces inspired by the many forms of authentic, non-globalised life: music rich in atmosphere that invites personal reflection. Saverio Tasca’s compositional style shines through, defined by a constant introspective search that engages both the emotional and the rational side of the listener.
Among the many national and international awards and honours he has received over his career, in 2022 Saverio Tasca won First Prize in the prestigious Composition Contest of the Percussive Arts Society, which brings together percussionists from all over the world. The winning piece, “Flashing Back”, pays tribute to the vibraphone on the centenary of its invention
