HEROES
Enrico Pieranunzi is a true ambassador of Italian jazz on the world stage.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest pianists and interpreters of jazz — and beyond — he is also a composer of pieces that have become standards performed worldwide. Over the course of his extraordinary career, he has shared the stage with jazz legends such as Chet Baker, Charlie Haden, Art Farmer, Irio De Paula, Lee Konitz, Paul Motian, and Jim Hall, to name just a few. Pieranunzi also collaborated for years with Ennio Morricone on numerous film scores and has appeared on major national television and radio channels in Italy. His career is truly unique and without equal.
The “Heroes” project stems from the success of the acclaimed album released by Abeat Records in 2024, which received outstanding praise from both critics and audiences across Europe and Asia.
The repertoire features original compositions of rare beauty, rich in lyrical depth and melodic intensity. Enrico Pieranunzi’s unmatched elegance, harmonic depth, and pianistic mastery blend seamlessly with the smoothness, grace, and expressive sound of flutist Aldo Di Caterino, offering one of the most refined listening experiences on the contemporary Italian scene.
The ensemble is completed and brilliantly supported by a solid, modern, and vibrant rhythm section featuring Carlo Bavetta on double bass and Cesare Mangiocavallo on drums — two of the most promising talents of Italy’s new jazz generation.
