Hakan Başar, a pianist born in Istanbul in 2004, may still be relatively unknown to the general public, but those who have heard him perform are well aware that they’re witnessing an extraordinary talent.
Among his international collaborations, one of the highlights is the single New Hub Art, recorded with Jimmy Haslip and Will Kennedy (members of the legendary Yellowjackets), along with meaningful encounters with artists such as Ron Carter, Russell Malone, Eddie Gomez, and Chick Corea.
With his current trio, Başar explores a repertoire of jazz standards, reimagining them with energy and creativity through a brilliant interplay of rhythm and melody that looks to the future while honoring tradition.
The trio is enriched by two outstanding Italian musicians: Michelangelo Scandroglio, a sensitive and inventive double bassist, winner of prestigious international awards (including Veneto Jazz, Umbria Jazz, Getxo, Riga Jazz), known for his intense compositions and original musical language; and Bernardo Guerra, a refined drummer active across the Italian and European jazz scenes, and long-time collaborator of Stefano Bollani, with whom he has performed at major festivals, theatres, and high-profile television broadcasts.
