The evening is dedicated to the young talents of Italian jazz with the customary “Tomorrow’s Jazz Night”, featuring the finalists of the award of the same name promoted by Veneto Jazz. On stage is the band Magenta, formed by Matteo Michelini (alto and soprano saxophones), Matteo Maranzana (piano), Federico Giolito (double bass) and Lorenzo Fabbri (drums). The group was born out of their shared experience at Siena Jazz and presents an open, expressive musical language, free from pre-established formulas and open to influences from different fields. Their sound is the result of a constantly evolving process, nourished by an ongoing dialogue between composition and improvisation, structure and freedom, individuality and collective listening.
Following, the Francesco Olivato Trio, featuring Francesco Olivato (guitar), Marco Vavassori (double bass) and Luca Roveran (drums). Drawing on outstanding academic backgrounds developed at the Conservatories of Rovigo, Padua and Castelfranco Veneto, the trio offers an original synthesis of jazz language and minimalism. Shaping the trio’s sonic identity are the leader’s philosophical studies in Eastern aesthetics: at the core of the performance lies the concept of Ma, the “empty space” understood not as absence, but as a fertile interval. Moving away from virtuosity, the group seeks “meditated notes” and breathing spaces, where the ego withdraws (aida) to make room for music to unfold, in an intimate and refined dialogue.
